Manufacturing Investment Guide 2007
Based on the national accounts estimated figures for 2006 which came out recently, the manufacturing sector contribution to GDP in Dubai amounted to16% ranking in the 2nd position among all economic sectors after the trade sector, while its production value represented 20% of total production value of the economy ranking 1st among economic sectors.
Looking at the performance over a span of time, it is heartening to know that manufacturing GDP average compounded annual growth rate between 2001 (10.5 AED billion) and 2006 (26.4 AED billion) amounted to an impressive figure of 20%.
Beyond the direct impact of manufacturing on the economy, the service industries created and sustained by a vibrant base of manufacturing companies contributed to the structural well being of the economy.
In order to sustain global competitiveness of Dubai manufactured products, more efforts would be needed to enhance productivity, boost technology and capital utilization and expand R&D activities.
The Department of Economic Development is geared to foster and facilitate economic growth by providing support to the investor and by sustaining an opportune business environment.
The "Manufacturing Investment Guide", one of DED numerous publications targeting the business community, is intended as a primary reference to manufacturing investors to help him through the process of establishing business in Dubai.

The main sources of information are Statistic Department. Dubai World for Dubai External Trade and ITC Trade Map, Trade Statistics for International Business Development, regarding international trade date. The ITC data normally lag one year behind the Dubai World Statistic.

Newsletter
Dubai Exports is a quarterly newsletter produced by the Dubai Export Development Corporation (EDC) and is circulated to various exporters, industrial and manufacturing companies in the UAE. The newsletter, with 8000 copies printed, is also widely read by different government institutions, and is also circulated to the free zones in the country.
Dubai Exports is published in both English and Arabic languages. The newsletter has a section called Markets which covers several countries where Dubai is exporting its products such as Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Canada, Egypt and India among others, which Dubai is exporting products to. Another section – Made in Dubai – is about profiles of a number of companies exporting products or services regionally and internationally or Dubai products already exported outside the country such as pasta and plastic. Among the companies already featured in Made in Dubai are as follows Masar Printing and Publishing, Galadari Printing and Publishing, and Ducab. Advertisements on the newsletter are open for EDC members and different UAE companies.
